Projects and Activities

Labyrinths are being built. Workshops are given. Programs are being developed for schools. TLS members all over the world are each doing their part to bring the labyrinth to a broad general audience. These are all important activities and TLS is seeking ways to be of support.

For years TLS board members have agonized over the word “support” in our mission statement – “to support all those who create, maintain and use labyrinths… .” What level of support could we as a fledgling organization give our members and their various projects, and more importantly, what kind of support did they want, need and expect?

In the past we have offered various means of support for a number of outside activities.

One was the “Labyrinths for Peace 2000” exhibit and presentation of walkable labyrinths on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol. This idea, presented by Sandra Wasko-Flood and developed with the help of Marilyn Larson, resulted in what is now our permanent traveling exhibit. Another idea, the 365 Club, was presented by Sig Lonegren. This has now become an important TLS program. The symposium held in England in 2002 was a joint project of Sig Lonegren, Karin Schluter Lonegren, Jeff Saward and Kimberly Lowelle Saward. The success of this project was evident.

Now we are partnering with Veriditas in creating and maintaining the World Wide Labyrinth Locator which will give everyone the opportunity to find labyrinths all over our planet.

TLS has also recently endorsed the Art Line Project. This means that we will provide a page on this website to help promote this project, the project may be presented at the Gatherings, and our “seal of approval” can be added to the project’s “resume.”

The TLS board is currently in the process of experimenting with several levels of support for various member projects.
